How Can You Help?

There are many ways to help support Dress 2 SOAR and the teens we provide our services to. There is not one role that is more important than others so…Let’s review them.

Oh, and if you are looking to donate money to our program, you can do that here.

There are 3 main areas that Dress 2 SOAR operates under. They all intermingle but for the most part, have unique and exclusive responsibilities.

  1. Teens

  2. Business

  3. Clothing

Teens

Direct Services to these amazing young adults

  1. Styling teens

We offer several opportunities for teens to gain access to professional clothing and our team of stylish and passionate volunteers.

    1. D2S Clothing Boutique

This is where we offer the teens access to our donated clothing. We have our clothing prepared onto apparel racks and tables and provide a boutique-like shopping experience with 1:1 support from volunteers.

Most of the time, this experience happens alongside our Style Workshops where we teach the fundamentals of style and fashion. We have a highly developed workbook for both men and women that allows us to dive deep when necessary as well as a resource for the teens to keep as they head off into adulthood.

    2. Work Readiness Shopping Sprees

After the teens have had the opportunity to engage our D2S Clothing Boutique, and as they near graduation, we will take them on a shopping spree at the Nordstrom Rack. With a budget of $250, we focus on filling in gaps for their professional attire as well as provide new under garments and accessories.

  2. Teaching, Mentoring, and Coaching

We offer several opportunities to engage the teens through teaching, mentoring, and coaching. If you have a passion and skill to do these things, there is great need to grow our team of amazing teachers and coaches.

    1. Life Skills Workshops

We provide training sessions with the teens in classroom settings where we can focus on men or women and the specifics of life skills required to be successful in the adult world. We have amazing volunteers who come from career coaching businesses and other professions and provide interactive and fun trainings teaching teens how to shake hands, write resumes, stand tall, speak loudly, and learn the basics of business team work.

    2. Internships

There are opportunities to provide teens internships at your company that allows them a hands-on look at the business and the opportunity to teach the trade.

Business

Operations and Leadership

Like all non-profits and organizations, there are logistics and decisions that need to be managed. There are opportunities to volunteer and support the Program Director, other volunteers, and partners. Here’s a list of areas that need support.

  • Social Media - support curating and posting on a regularly scheduled cadence to promote D2S and events.

  • Leadership - our leadership team changes from time to time based on the individuals commitments and we want to continue to develop the pipeline of volunteers that want to help provide direction and support.

  • Volunteer Management - for our future events, there is a need to communicate with our database of interested and dedicated volunteers. This is how we get people signed up to help at events.

Clothing

Sorting and Counting

We are beautifully blessed with amazing designer clothing from our community and that means we need to sort it, prep it, and count it. Here are the areas for managing the clothing.

  1. Sorting and Counting - well, it’s just that.

  2. Selection and merchandising - here we take the clothes and put them on our displays and racks in preparation for the teens. This requires an eye for details for sizes, colors, designs, and that “retail-feel”.
